Jammu 07 Dec :......... There is an old saying that it's not the job which makes a man worthy but it's the man who makes the chair worthy itself. It wouldn't be wrong if this analogy is applied to a man who is not famous all over the region for his indomitable grit but also for fearless and indefatigable attitude to make the system move is none other than Rajesh Kumar Shavan, the senior KAS Officer ofJammu and Kashmir. 

Beginning his career in Junior bureaucracy of the erstwhile state, Kumar has earned the name and fame of a fearless officer who has always broken the spine of mafia and vandalism. He proved his mettle by his untiring and unmoulding professional ethics earning sobriquet of Dabang officer.

He is considered master of revenue laws and has settled the most tedious cases of the state and transpired the record while his posting in the department. From revenue to law enforcement, from electioneering to implementations he has delivered beyond expectations not only of his seniors but of the system per se.

While holding the charge of Excise Commissioner He took on liquor mafia not succumbing an iota to the pulls and pressures of politicians and string liquor lobby of the region.He toured far flung areas of the region and collected the pending penalties and revenue in record breaking time. He took on foot journey to most inaccessible areas.He made high ranking police officers, bureaucrats and corrupt politicians to toe the line who were otherwise used to freebies and favours.

Instead of rewarding him for his exemplary services, He was made a scapegoat in the name of system prerogative and transferred with in months from the excise commissioner post allegedly under the pressure of liquor mafia.He was transferred to head state financial commission considered as a sideline posting but here as He is, He made the system realise his worth and wisdom. 

In a record breaking time, the commission under his command doubles the recovery and revenue and also seized the factories who weren't returning the huge loans.

He is called a system mover and an impetuous force in the entire bureaucracy of the region and keeping away such an upright officer is a loss to the government itself.
