Jammu 10 Apr :_________ Bhadarwah Forest Division comprising of four  forest ranges, Neeru, Killar,  Chiralla, And  Gandho is filled with coniferous forests on all sides but illegal deforestation is depleting the green cover rapidly and hills once filled by dense forest are becoming barren at an alarming pace in Bhaderwah valley. 

Massacre of green Cedar and Pine trees continue on its peak in Neeru Range of forest Division Bhadarwah. Activist today visited a small portion of forest block Dugga and observed massive damage of green forest. Local alleged unabated cutting is going on in all compartments from compartment 1 to 66 .Timber mafiya are active with the support of departmental mafiya. Local have appealed to LG UT Jammu and Kashmir Mr Menoj Sinha to look into the matter and demand action against the erring officials.

          According to  United Nation Report on trees per head in various countries showing as lowest as 28 trees per head in our country which is lowest in the world .The second largest country in the world (Canada) has 8953 trees per head and the largest populated country China has 102 trees per head. The loss of the green cover in India has brought down the oxygen level in India causing serious diseases which are playing havoc on the Indian population.

 The UN report further says that in every five year our environment becomes hotter by 10 C and India is already hotter at around 450 C. by losing the green more cover we have reached a point of no return which has create an emergency like situation, which result into environmental catastrophy/disaster anytime.

     "Cutting of green Cedar and Pine Trees is going on at an alarming pace without any check. The higher authorities of Government,  Forest Deptt and administration were time to time informed by the Media and social workers but all seems to be gone to the deaf ears which clearly indicate that they are also getting the booty from Mafia and Corrupt Forest officials," environmentalists Mansoor  Qadir alleged .

     According to environment lovers the issue is not only about the felling of Green Cedar,Fir and Pine Trees, it is about the whole eco system which is in danger.
