The coronavirus pandemic and the fight to contain the spread of the virus has brought into focus the efforts of Corona Warriors at local levels, here is an exemplary Corona Warrior namely Mohd. Ahsan Zargar for whom the sole meaning of life is to serve humanity especially at this crucial juncture.
He is currently serving as
L.A / Naib Tehsildar,Lass Head Quarter Drabshalla Kishtwar.
He has been appointed as Duty Magistrate COVID-19 and
has been overlooking at Model Naka Drabshalla Near Thatri Bridge since the pandemic outbreak for strict implementation of SOPs .
While sharing his experience of work at Thathri, Model Check Point he said ,"It was never easy to persuade the people coming from outside, ensure their testing, taking them to quarantine centres and their psychological counselling".It was a bad phase yet we did our best to have healing touch where nobody feels alienated.
My main motive was to have a sense of duty toward all people and how to save the district Kishtwar from the tentacles of dreaded Coronavirus. The District Kishtwar remained green zone during the first wave of Coronavirus and I am proudly saying our team left no stone unturned in safeguarding the lives of thousands because Thathri Check point is the only route to enter in Kishtwar via Jammu where we did agressive sampling of commuters and after full satisfaction we allowed the vehicle to enter in district Kishtwar.
During the second wave of Coronavirus, the storm is same and our strategy same though more efficient. There was imposition of fines but that was just deterrence.
Apart from this, he has been monitoring the situation in the Drabshalla and ensuring all measures are adhered to. His monitoring visits include the market checking, enforcing social distance norms and safety measures.
Meanwhile, he also remained stationed at Drabshalla Headquarter working hard to listen the grievances of the common poor masses from time to time besides issued various individual oriented certificates and did other revenue related works, maintaining of law and order and also educating the general public about the COVID-19 appropriate behavior and guidelines issued by Govt from time to time amid COVID-19.
Besides this, he also cooperated with Sarpanches and Panches to ensure their helping hand to identify, enlist and aware the people to get vaccinated at designated panchayat level vaccination centres on mass mode.
In order to give impetus to set up the 5-bedded COVID Care centres at each panchayat of the Block Drabshalla of district Kishtwar, he played an active role along with PRI and concerned officers in the identification of locations, requisite arrangements to be put in place in the newly established CC centres to ensure the availability and accesability of supported medical facility for the general people in this crucial time on the fast track basis as per the instruction of Hon'ble LG J&K and on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar.Besides arranging of ambulance, sanitization of containment areas and ensuring that non-covid patients do not suffer this is what we all are shouldering .
Moreover during this upsurge phase when the govt rolled out the vaccination drive,he coordinated and monitored the health officials and other executing agencies to achieve remarkable result to aware and mobilise the masses to CVC for get their jab done.
Life changed for when I used to go back home from duty I couldn't hug my children.I had to take the extra precautions as I was doing my duty but also had parental duty.I striked a balance between both of my duties-Love and compassion are necessities, without them humanity can not survive,he shared his experience.
His first place of posting was at village Mulchitter of district Kishtwar in 2003 as Patwari, he stated that my first experience was that Public dealing is difficult- but I took it as an exam of my service and tried my best to work with honestly and diligently to help poor rural masses in every way.
It is pertinent to mention here that, for his extraordinary contributions in the fight against Covid-19, he has been awarded with certificate of appreciation by the Hon'ble LG on 12th August 2020 also received certificates/felicitations for his unblemished and relentlesly humanitarian service from District Administration Kishtwar, PRIs and various NGO besides general public at large appreciates his positive attitude towards his duty under the entire satisfaction of his superiors and to keep public morale high.
He said,"Crononavirus was a storm that engulfed whole humanity but we could not just stop and see, we learned how to dance through it"
He said that life in far flung areas with spares population where there was no facility of home isolation,Panchayat Covid Centrs assume significance. We established the centres with all the facilities and now ensuring that those who are brought there feel like home. When they go back the smile on their face should be a big one.
He said pandemic has taught me,"It's not the load that weighs you down,It's how you carry it".
